A New Season for Paul's Heart
Spring is a time of beginnings, but Paul’s heart attack and cardiac arrest made it feel like the end. “My heart didn’t beat for eighteen minutes. I was aware of dying,” he says as he looks back. He thanks Providence Heart for teamwork that saved his life. “Everyone along the way—from the EMT team, to the ER crew, to my cardiologist—knew exactly what they were supposed to do. Nobody dropped the ball. Without that, I wouldn’t be here today.”
The secret to success is perseverance
But the real secret to Paul’s recovery was his determination to get back into training. He survived that day and completed rigorous rehabilitation. “I’m proud of completing cardiac rehab. I felt so good about myself when I was able to go to the gym,” Paul says. “It was by far the most valuable thing I did.”
